Community Based Learning

This resource binder was originally issued as the Community-Based Learning: A Workplace Health and Safety Resource for Educators, and is available by permission from the NS Department of Education for teachers’ classroom use.  

The materials and links directly support the workplace health and safety outcomes of:

      • Community Based Learning 10
      • Career Development 10 & 11
      • Workplace Health & Safety 11
      • In-School Component of Co-Op 11 & 12.

A wide variety of other courses also have content that links to workplace safety, for example:

      • Physically Active Lifestyles 10 – 12 (ergonomics & preventing musculoskeletal injury) 
      • Family Studies (hazards in the kitchen and infection control) 
      • Chemistry 11 (WHMIS)
      • Mathematics 10 (explore statistics associated with young worker industries & injury)
