Nova SAFE: New app puts workplace safety information at Nova Scotians’ fingertips

Need to know which ladder height is right for the job at hand? What personal protective equipment is required for the project you are planning? Have a question about elevator licensing?

The Nova SAFE app is making it easier for you to find those answers anywhere at anytime.

Recently released by the Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration, Nova SAFE was designed to help provide Nova Scotians with a convenient way to access and reference workplace safety information when and where they need it.

In its first phase, the app launched with information on more than 30 important safety topics, which each contain a plain language summary of the subject, quick access to the applicable sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and links to more related safety resources.

For example, some of the initial topics include:

Over time, the Safety Branch will be adding even more topics, as well as topics in French.

Nova SAFE is modeled after safety sites developed by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety and is customized to safety regulations in Nova Scotia.

The mobile responsive web can be instantly accessed on your mobile device from any worksite at any time.

To easily install Nova SAFE on any iOS or Android device, novasafe.ca.
