Sunday is Father’s Day – a day for pampering Dad with a sleep-in or maybe even breakfast in bed. As you give him special attention this weekend, it’s also the perfect time to remind him to stay safe at work.

In 2013 alone more than 3,300 men were seriously injured on the job in Nova Scotia, making up 55.5 percent of all time-loss claims with the Workers’ Compensation Board. Half of these men were aged between 35 and 54, many of them fathers.

So hug your Dad extra tight this year and remind him not just on Sunday, but every day, of the many reasons he has to work safely. After all, the most important reason for keeping your workplace safe is not at work at all.
