WCB Named a Top Canadian Employer for Second Consecutive Year

For the second year in a row, the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia (WCB) has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. The official announcement can be found in this morning’s Globe & Mail.

It’s an exciting achievement for the board and our employees, given that 2,000 employers started the application process this year.

Canada's Top 100 Employers is an annual competition recognizing the country’s best places to work. The program identifies companies and organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining employees.

Winners are evaluated on categories that include physical workplace, work atmosphere, health, financial and family benefits, vacation and time off, employee communications, performance management, training and skills development, and community involvement.

The WCB offers a lot of great programs that make it a top place to work: a defined benefit pension plan, health and dental coverage, salary top up for maternity, adoption and parental leave, a flexible work week plan, a robust reward and recognition program, and health spending accounts.

The WCB also credits its partners at the NSGEU and Local 55 for their contributions. The union’s work to improve benefits on behalf of employees has made the WCB a more progressive employer, and helped to achieve the designation.
