Celebrating Dad, safely

No matter if you’re celebrating with breakfast in bed, a thoughtful gift or quality time together, Father’s Day is the perfect occasion to tell Dad how much he means to you.

Many of us have a favourite activity to do with Dad. And whether it’s going on a camping trip, playing backyard games, listening to him read a bedtime story, or watching the big game, all of these activities have one thing in common: they were made possible by workplace safety.

In 2017, 51.9 per cent of those with time-loss injuries were men, with the majority aged 40-60 years old. These injuries varied across industries but were particularly high in health care and fishing.

Injuries at work take their toll at home. A workplace injury means a father might not be able to hoist his son onto his shoulders, or play soccer in the backyard with his daughter.

So, this Father’s Day, make sure to tell your dad how important his safety is to you, at work and at home.
